Montecalbello:
wine estate in the heart of Montalcino

Montecalbello

Estate

Montecalbello lies at the foot of the Siena-facing slope of the Montalcino hill.
The town stands out against its vineyards in all its beauty and history, as if guarding the work of Gianni Sacchi.

The Vineyards

San Giovese

Five hectares are devoted entirely to Sangiovese, three hectares of which produce Gianni’s Brunello, showcasing the more “refined” characteristics of wines grown on this side of the hill. There are also two more hectares on the south-eastern slope of Montalcino, towards Monte Amiata

The Story

Always vineyards

There’s a longstanding love story between Gianni and the land. Born and bred in the cradle of Brunello, he has worked enthusiastically in the world of wines from the age of 14. In 2000 he decided to take over Azienda Montecalbello and focus on the production of his wonderful wine.

Vino color del giorno, vino color della notte,
Vino con piedi di porpora o sangue di topazio,
Vino, stellato figlio della terra,
Vino liscio come una spada d’oro,
Morbido come un disordinato velluto…

Pablo Neruda
